Soon autumn will turn to winter but before it occurs, the harvest provides us Thanksgiving. It is one of my favorite holidays. It allows me an opportunity to reflect on what has occurred up to this point in the year while preparing a delicious feast. This year I strayed from the menu I had prepared for years. I tried some different techniques for preparing turkey and stuffing. Also we enjoyed rice instead of potatoes. The menu went like this:
- Brazed Turkey Breast in fall vegetables (brined in salt and sugar before cooking)
- Gravy
- Apple and Sausage Stuffing (baked outside the turkey)
- Wild rice
- Brussle sprouts
- Apple, cranberry, and pecan pie for dessert
